Joe Eigo

INTERVIEW: Stunt Actor Joe Eigo on 'Multi Level Moves'

by Chris Jones (2004.03.16)

Joe Eigo is a talented acrobatic stunt actor lucky enough to have been selected by action star Jackie Chan to perform with Jackie's world-class stunt team on Around the World in 80 Days (2004). Having completed his tour of duty, Joe took time out to briefly speak with fellow stunt actor and KFC correspondent Chris Jones about meeting his fans in London and on developing a new performance-fitness trend called 'Multi Level Moves.'

Chris Jones: Firstly, how are you and how is your training going?

Joe Eigo: Everything has been great since I arrived home in Canada. I have just been training more and focusing on improving some basics while mastering some techniques. I've been training with my stunt team based in Toronto (see ReelStunts.com) and have learned a few new moves.

CJ: I was amongst those lucky enough to train with you during your recent trip to the UK. You visited other places around the world working and traveling. What was that like?

JE: It was like a dream come true and a very exciting adventure. One of my biggest goals was to travel because I believe the world is like a great book.

CJ: You recently attended a Jackie Chan Fan Club event in London where you met a lot of your fans. What was it like?

JE: It was really a great honor and an unforgettable experience! I was surprised to see some people whom I had met while working on the movie Around the World in 80 Days and I finally met a few others that I have kept in touch with for a few years over the internet. I was really happy to meet all the other people that traveled from all parts of Europe too. It all started by sharing stories and experiences, answering questions, and even having fun demonstrating some 'Multi Level Moves' for them. At the end we had some photos together and an autograph session. Later, we had a Chinese dinner together and returned to the hotel lobby.

CJ: Visitors to your website will be familiar with your 'Multi-Level Moves' group. Could you tell us a little this group and its future?

JE: 'Multi Level Moves' is an art, style, and lifestyle. I believe the most important trends these days are extreme sports, health and fitness, new styles of fun and exciting entertainment, belonging to a group/community, and the power of positive thinking. It's taking all these values and packaging them into a brand name. If Microsoft can put software into computers then Multi Level Moves can be made for the human body.

CJ: What does the future hold for Joe Eigo?

JE: Coming this May 2004 is a new TV series called Lazytown. I stunt-doubled the lead character called Sporticus. He is the world's first healthy super hero who does all types of sports throughout the day, eats well-balanced meals and has a lot of fun!

Russell Wong came to fame in an episode of 21 Jump Street and then won a starring role in Eat a Bowl of Tea. Since then he played a brutal womanizing jerk in The Joy Luck Club and co-starred as one of the two heroic, avenging, kung-fu brothers in the Vanishing Son TV series. Which was released as a series of four videos. He also starred in China White. In March 2000 he took on Jet Li in 'Romeo Must Die'
Russell Wong was born in Troy, New York in 1963. His father is a Chinese-American from Shandung Province and his mother is of Dutch, French, Canadian and Indian descent

Interview with Martial Artist- New Action Star. David Tanner
                             by Jackie Lee

We met him in the office of Peter Wong Lu just outside the city of Jakarta.

"You get an image after you fight on a television broadcast, but it is not necessary a long lasting image. You can't say who will make it to the top and who will not, So what you do is you keep trying new things. Keep in mind that basically, Martial Arts, all of it is entertainment."

I asked him about his new vocation of action stunts (that Dustin is required to perform} "They take all possible safety and precautions," responds Dustin, "but yes, accidents do happen. Then again, they happen to everyone, even stuntmen. I'm used to pain and risk. Remember, I fought Full Contact fights in the Ring against the Best Kickboxers in the World."

A role that Dustin had wanted was given to Frank Shamrock, who is featured and stars in "No Rules" That film is scheduled for a future date. "NHB type movies are being discussed all over, Yeah Frank Shamrock deserves that role" Dustin states, "That film is basically written for a guy like Frank Shamrock." I hear that some big named stars are being considered for "No Rules".

Interestingly, Dustin will again be competing in Full Contact shoot matches and also working on a film entitled "No Rules- Outside The ring" Which is about deadly, no rules, all out stickfighting matches that take place in the Philippines and Indonesia, in remote areas.  Jason Mawate, who is in the lead, is also in starring in a Hong Kong based Production which introduces "filipino style" Martial Arts tournaments to that audience and is almost the same script and film as "No Rules Outside The Ring" but different in that it takes place in Hong Kong.

Jason, who will for the first time be risking his own money in the film, doesn't seem too fazed by the fact, though. "If Dustin Etan had started out in films when he first came to Indonesia He would have been a very big Action Star. I want him to take on the project when filming starts in Hong Kong, although he hasn't said yes or no to me yet." The Hong Kong audience wants a certain type of production  and the film will look totally different when it is shot there.

I guess the bottomline is, if there are two versions, then the better one will click with the world wide distribution- We will see"

Jason seems equally gung-ho about his other project, and in fact is positively voluble when he begins talking about it. "is a very big budget film, we haven't even given it a figure yet because we know it will go haywire anyway," Jason smiles. "We are going all out for it. Actually, it is more correct to say my dad is producing this - it is his hard work and goodwill in the industry that has made it possible. And yes, Dustin Etan, I hope will be doing a role in it."
